Display Product Recommendations on the Branded Tracking Page

Plans: Learn more Platforms: Learn more

Overview

Product recommendations on the branded tracking page help re-engage customers after purchase by showcasing relevant products based on their order and browsing behavior. By displaying personalized recommendations, merchants can encourage repeat visits and drive additional revenue directly from the tracking experience.

What you'll learn

Supported recommendation engines

AfterShip Tracking supports the following types of recommendation engines specifically designed for enhancing branded tracking pages. You can opt, enable, and set up the engine that best suits.

  • AfterShip Recommendation Engine
  • Nosto Recommendation Engine

This feature is designed for merchants who want to personalize the post-purchase experience and increase repeat purchases by recommending relevant products on their branded tracking page.

Configure product recommendations

  1. Log in to your AfterShip admin.
  2. Go to Tracking > Branded tracking page.
  3. Select the branded tracking page you want to edit.
  4. Add the Product recommendation section.
  5. Select a recommendation engine.
  6. Save the page.

1. AfterShip recommendation engine

To get started, select a recommendation engine. AfterShip now supports AfterShip native recommendation engine and Nosto as a third-party recommendation provider app. The AfterShip recommendation engine uses AI-driven algorithms to suggest products based on customer behavior, order data, and product attributes.

Select Recommendation source

You need to select the product source for recommendations. Currently, product recommendations are supported only for stores connected via the Commerce API or through eCommerce platform integrations, which require an active store connection.

For commerce API users

If you use the Commerce API to import your order data, the product source is determined by the as-store-id header specified in the Create a store, Create a product, and Create an order requests from your Commerce API connections.

To ensure all recommendation types work correctly:

  • Verify and make sure that your stores, products, and orders are successfully imported.

  • Select the appropriate store as the product source for the tracking page where you want to display recommendations.

E-Commerce platforms user

If you use an eCommerce platform integration (such as Shopify or other supported platforms), the product source selected here is the store connections derived from the app connection settings.

Select Recommendation type

NextLLM, Best sellers, and Frequently bought together based on AfterShip AI algorithms. You can decide whether you want to recommend the next best product, your top-selling products, or frequently purchased ones.

  • Next LLM- Predicts the next best product a customer is most likely to buy. It learns in real-time using product tagging data and aggregated shopping behavior across all AfterShip-connected stores.
  • Best sellers - Identifies your top-selling products based on purchase data from the past 30 days and ranks them according to their sales amount.
  • Frequently bought together (AI powered) - Recommends complementary products that are commonly purchased with the item(s) in the current order. AfterShip analyzes purchase patterns from your store’s past 30-day order history to identify products that customers typically buy together and displays the most relevant matches.

If AfterShip is unable to identify relevant products for recommendation, the system automatically falls back to Best sellers. This typically happens when the product is newly added and lacks sufficient purchase history, or when the order contains only a single item.

  • Custom strategy: You can build personalized recommendations by selecting more than 10 pre-made rules with custom if–then logic. For detailed setup instructions, refer to the custom recommendation rules article.

Customize Recommendation content

You can customize the Product Recommendation section using the following options:

  • Title - The text displayed above the recommended products.
  • Product information -

a. Product name: The product name is automatically used as the alt text for images, even when this box is unchecked

b. Price & compare at price

c. Discount value

d. Product description: Available for Shopify stores only

e. Product reviews: Available for Shopify stores only and requires a Yotpo integration

  • Sales badge: Displayed automatically when a compare-at price is available.

2. Nosto Recommendation engine

You must include your tracking page URL in the whitelist of Nosto to enable product recommendations successfully. In case you skip this step, Nosto won't show product recommendations on your branded tracking page.
