Enable AI-Predictive Post-Purchase Estimated Delivery Dates

Plans: Premium, Enterprise Advanced Platforms: All platforms

Overview

After placing an order, customers are most eager to learn about its delivery timeframe. Consequently, eCommerce businesses strive to provide estimated delivery dates (EDDs) to proactively answer customers' frequent Where is my order? (WISMO) inquiries, enhancing their shopping satisfaction.

To offer broader coverage and more precise EDDs, AfterShip Tracking employs an AI model for predicting EDDs (AI EDD) across 101 major carriers presently, with plans for expansion.

  • Our AI model factors in variables like weather and traffic throughout the shipment journey, achieving a remarkable 90% on-time delivery rate.
  • Additionally, our AI model continuously updates EDDs based on real-time logistics data, enabling it to detect potential delays and notify customers promptly. This proactive approach has shown to boost the on-time delivery rate to an average of 95%.
  • Once activated, these estimated delivery dates will be visible on branded tracking pages, as well as in emails and SMS notifications.

Enable AI Predictive EDD

  1. Go to Estimated Delivery Dates (EDD) > Post-purchase EDD in your AfterShip Tracking account
  2. Scroll down to the AI Predictive EDD option and click Enable to activate the custom EDD calculation for your shipments
  3. Click Manage to access the AI Predictive EDD set up portal.

Post-purchase EDD main dashboard

  1. Select the checkbox to allow AI EDD to follow your carrier’s business day settings from the AfterShip Tracking Settings page. If left disabled, AI will use its own holiday calendar for estimated delivery date predictions.
  2. Select the date format:

You can choose between two display formats for your Estimated Delivery Dates (EDD): Dynamic or Static.

Dynamic EDD format

The system automatically selects the most suitable format based on AI prediction accuracy:

  • When the prediction confidence is high, a single-date format is shown.
  • When confidence is lower, a date range format is displayed to maintain reliability and accuracy.

Set up dynamic date format EDD

Static EDD format

If you do not enable Dynamic EDD format, manually set a fixed display format for all shipments:

  • Single date: Displays one estimated delivery date to your customers. AfterShip’s AI engine achieves around 91% accuracy when providing single-date EDDs.
  • Date range: Displays a delivery window (commonly a 2-day range) that ensures higher accuracy and more consistent performance, averaging 96% accuracy.

Set up static date format EDD

  1. Settings will be auto-updated based on the date format selection.
  2. Our AI model currently predicts EDDs for 101 major worldwide carriers and will support more in the future. Click supported carriers and supported regions to check the complete list. If your preferred carriers are missing from the list contact us now.

How enabling carrier business days enhances AI EDD accuracy?

By enabling carrier-specific business day settings:

  • AI predictions reflect the true working calendars of your logistics partners.
  • National holidays, weekends, and local non-working days are considered per carrier, increasing prediction accuracy.
  • Your customers receive more realistic delivery expectations, which improves trust and reduces support tickets.

  • AfterShip’s AI model predicts accurate delivery dates for over 100 carriers.
  • Choose between Dynamic EDD (auto-selects best format) or Static EDD (set single date or range).
