Overview


PayPal Package Tracking provides live updates and notifications to help shoppers track their orders paid with PayPal from purchase to delivery.


AfterShip's integration with PayPal offers a streamlined solution for order tracking. Brands can enhance customer experience by providing proactive tracking information, leading to improved delivery success rates and reduced disputes or chargebacks.


The integration allows users to centralize order tracking, ensuring a connected shopping experience and an informed tracking journey.

Important considerations


  • PayPal Package Tracking is only available for orders paid with PayPal.
  • Track with PayPal is currently only available for US shoppers.
  • Track with PayPal is currently in the Alpha launch phase, exclusively offered to a select group of users who can opt in.
  • In-store pickup order tracking for PayPal orders is not supported at this time.


Enabling PayPal Package Tracking


This section only applies to users with a valid connection to WooCommerce or BigCommerce.


Enable the Track with PayPal Widget


  1. Navigate to Add ons >> PayPal Package Tracking in your AfterShip Tracking admin.
  2. Click Install PayPal.
  3. On the app authorisation page, select the store(s) to connect your PayPal account.



A. If you have 1 PayPal account


  • Select all your stores from the dropdown menu below.
  • Click "Install PayPal" to connect them to your PayPal account.


B. If you have multiple PayPal accounts


  • You must create a separate connection for each PayPal account. Select all stores connected to a single PayPal account from the dropdown menu below.
  • Click "Install PayPal" to connect them to the associated PayPal account.
  • You'll be taken to a settings page with an option to "Manage connections" where you can then link more PayPal accounts.


This will allow AfterShip Tracking to sync tracking information for orders paid with PayPal.

  1. Add your details to connect your PayPal account to the associated stores.
  2. Once the PayPal account is connected, click Return to {Store}.


  1. AfterShip Tracking will begin syncing shipments for new orders. To enable PayPal Package Tracking, select the desired touchpoints where you want the Track with PayPal buttons to show.



  • To install the button on your BigCommerce order confirmation page, or WooCommerce thank you page, click Install button and follow the instructions.
  • To enable Track with PayPal buttons on AfterShip Tracking pages or email notifications, toggle the button on. This will display the button on all created tracking pages and emails.

Sync historical shipments


AfterShip Tracking will automatically sync shipments for new orders once your PayPal account is connected. To enable tracking for historical shipments:


  1. Click on Sync existing orders now in the blue banner.
  2. Select a date range for your historical shipments sync.



How shoppers can track orders


Once you have successfully enabled the "Track with PayPal" button, shoppers can track their orders via the PayPal app after purchase.

When the "Track with PayPal" button is clicked on a desktop, users will be redirected to a webpage prompting them to download the PayPal app on their mobile device.

If AfterShip detects a non-US billing address for the order, the tracking button will not be displayed.
